925 Sterling Silver
925 Sterling Silver jewellery is made up of 92.5% pure silver mixed with 7.5% alloy metals. It is made with the intention to increase durability, withstand the intricate and finer details. Most people do not have allergy reactions to 925 jewellery either. The jewellery is usually stamped with the word “925”; truly a precious metal that is hard to miss.
Gold vermeil (pronounced vur-may) is a thick coating of 14-24K gold over 925 sterling silver, generally hypoallergenic. The coating process gives the jewellery a smooth and beautiful finish. A gold vermeil jewellery will be more durable and valuable than gold-plated piece.
Stainless steel is a hypoallergenic material that will be suitable for individuals with sensitive skin. It is durable and tarnish resistant, requires almost no maintenance hence it’s a perfect material to wear on a daily basis.
Brass (Silver / Gold-plating)
Due to the nature of brass, jewellery made with brass has a wider creative space in crafting. Brass jewellery is almost always plated with a layer of silver or gold which increases its endurance. It is normal for oxidation or discolouration to occur on plated jewellery hence proper care is needed to keep it looking its best.
With that being said, do keep in mind that everyone’s physic and allergies are ultimately different. Do pick the right kind of jewellery that best suits yourself —— be your own kind of beautiful!
