Sterling Silver

925 Sterling silver jewellery is made up of 92.5% pure silver mixed with 7.5% alloy metals. It is made with the intention to increase durability, withstand the intricate and finer details. Most people do not have allergy reactions to 925 jewellery either. The jewellery is usually stamped with the word 925 or S925; truly a precious metal that is hard to miss.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is a thick coating of 14-24K gold over sterling silver, generally hypoallergenic. The coating process gives the jewellery a smooth and beautiful finish. A gold vermeil jewellery will be more durable and valuable than gold-plated piece.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a hypoallergenic material that will be suitable for individuals with sensitive skin. It is durable and tarnish resistant, requires almost no maintenance hence it’s a perfect material to wear on a daily basis.

Brass (Silver / Gold-plating)

Due to the nature of brass, jewellery made with brass has a wider creative space in crafting. Brass jewellery is almost always plated with a layer of silver or gold which increases its endurance. It is normal for oxidation or discolouration to occur on plated jewellery hence proper care is needed to keep it looking its best.

With that being said, do keep in mind that everyone’s physic and allergies are ultimately different. Do pick the right kind of jewellery that best suits yourself —— be your own kind of beautiful!

Here’s a guide to caring for your jewellery —— to help keep your favourite pieces looking at their best:

Wear and Care

  • We recommend you to wear your sterling silver jewellery often as the oils in your skin helps to reduce oxidation.
  • Avoid contact with water. Remove your jewellery when washing hands, showering, exercising, swimming and carrying out household chores.
  • Jewellery can be affected from the exposure of various chemicals and alcohol in your beauty and body products. Therefore, do refrain from applying perfume, lotion or other chemicals when the jewellery is being worn. Your jewellery should always come in as your final adornment when dressing.
  • We do not recommend you to use abrasive silver polish dip / cleaner to clean jewellery as they may remove the anti-tarnish coating and cause more damage to the valuable piece.

Sterling Silver:

  • A silver polishing cloth is provided for every purchase of sterling silver collection, any oxidation may be removed with it. To clean, buff gently using a straight, back-and-forth motion. We recommend cleaning your jewellery on a regular basis. Do not wash the silver polishing cloth, you need only replace a new one when it’s quite black on both sides.

Gold Vermeil / Gold or Silver Plated Jewellery:

  • Do not use the silver polishing cloth on gold vermeil / gold or silver plated jewellery as the polishing action will strip away the plating. Instead, use a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth to remove dirt and restore shine.

  • Always store your unworn jewellery separately in the airtight bag before place in lowdose’s pouch or box to prevent oxidation.
  • Jewellery should be kept in a dry and cool place away from direct sunlight.

Each and every piece from lowdose is one of a kind and a little bit of tender loving care can go a long way.
